Abstract

339,874. Schrans, C. Feb. 12, 1929, [Convention date]. Doffing-arrangements.-For removing full tubes from the spindles of spinning-machines and replacing them by empty tubes, a chain 1 movable longitudinally of the machine carries guide-members 2, 5 adapted respectively to receive full tubes raised from the spindles by forks 14 and to permit the passage of empty tubes 11 from an apertured table 9 to the spindles. When the cops are fully wound, the ring rail is lowered and the forks 14 are advanced to engage them by means of plates 21, Fig. 4, which are moved longitudinally and engage the holders 25 of the forks by means of slots 22. The plates 21 are carried by a U-shaped member 17 which is raised so that the cops are removed from the spindles and enter the members 2, whereupon the chain 1 is moved a distance equal to half ,the pitch of the spindles so that the empty tubes 11 drop on to the spindles through the members 5, the cops being retained in the clips which are enabled to make the requisite movement by reason of slots 26 in the holders 25. A plate 13 is advanced to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 4 by operating its pivoted supports 27, and serves to support the cops when the clips 14 are removed. The chain 1 is finally operated to convey the cops along the, plate 13 to the end of the frame.
