Thermionic amplifiers; receiving-sets, control of.-A wireless receiver adapted for reception on two wave bands comprises two high frequency amplifying valves v1, v2 in cascade which are both operative when receiving upon either hand. The anode circuit of one of the valves has a fixed resonant frequency within one of the wave bands and the other valve anode circuit has a fixed resonant frequency within the other wave band. The anode circuit impedances preferably comprise choke coils b, c which are tuned by the self capacities k, l, of the coils. The input circuit comprises one or other of inductances g, h which is tuned by a condenser i and coupled to the aerial inductance coil j.
