Abstract
338,797. Armstrong, J. J. V., (Phoenix- Hermetic Co.). Jan. 15, 1930. Caps and capsules. -A metal screw cap 3 for bottles, jars, &c. is formed by first making a shallow thread in the vertical wall of a hatshaped blank by rolling &c. and of a pitch greater than that required for the finished thread, and then subjecting the cap to end pressure by a pressure member 10 whilst it is carried on an anvil 8 the diameter r and height s of which determine the inner diameter of the finished thread and the height of the cap. The inclination of the faces of the thread 7a, 7b are preferably arranged as shown.
