Abstract
338,622. Gold, A. E. Aug. 29, 1929. Mechanical toys.-In a mascot for cycles and motor and like vehicles, of the type having parts actuated from a movable part of the vehicle, the wings or other movable parts are operably connected at their inner ends to a rod that passes through the body from the underside and is actuated from the road wheels or other moving part of the vehicle. As shown, the, mascot is in the form of a bird 1 attached to a vehicle by a clip 16. The wings 4 of the bird pass through slots in the body and are hinged at their inner ends to a pin 5 that is operably connected through a vertically guided rod 6, transverse slot 9, eccentric pin 10, worm wheel 11 and worm 12 to a pair of driving wheels 14. These driving wheels 14 are pressed into engagement with a tyre of the vehicle by a spring 19 acting on a plunger 17 projecting from the mounting of the bird. In a modification, the wings are pivoted to the body and each connected to the eccentric pin 10 by a separate link, or the inner ends of the wings may be slotted to receive the upper end of a single link. The bird may be replaced by a human figure or other object.
