Abstract

338,388. Kre³ger, C. G. U., and Lewerentz, S. Dec. 3, 1929. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 16, 1929]. Glazing. - A non-resilient moulding is detachably secured to the frame of a shop or other window or show-case to form with it a substantially rigid structure having a channel of fixed and predetermined dimensions in which the plate glass, is resiliently held by metal spring strips secured to the frame. In one form, an angled window frame 1, Fig. 1, is fitted into a recess in a wall 3 and is adapted to receive a glass pane 8. To the frame is secured a non-resilient moulding 4 by means of screws 6, a distance-piece 7 limiting the movement of the moulding towards the frame. A metal strip 9 having resilient tongues 10 is secured to the frame, the said tongues being adapted to bear against the pane 8 to hold it resiliently against the moulding. Holes 11 may be cut in the frame to admit air into the room in which the window is fitted. Corner windows are fitted with a modified construction of moulding 4, Fig. 8, which is secured directly to the frame. The panes 8 are pressed against two flanges 14, 15 of the moulding, which is substantially T-shaped, by resilient tongues 10, 10a of the strip 9. For double glazing, the inner pane 8, Fig. 10, is held between the frame 1 and an angle-iron 16, these members being held in spaced relationship by screws 6 and distancepieces 7. An outer window 8a is similarly held between the moulding 4 and the angle-iron 16 by screws 6a and distance-pieces 7a, the screws passing through holes in the angle-iron 16. The window pane in each case may rest on blocks 12, Figs. 1, 10. In the application to double casement windows, the two frames 1, 1a of the windows, Fig. 19, are connected by hinges 20 and wooden mouldings 4, 4a are secured to them by screws. The panes 8, 8a are held in a resilient manner by the metal strips as shown. Several other mcdifications are described.
