Line-spacing mechanism. - The line-spacing lever is normally coupled to the mechanism by a latch which is released during movement of the line-spacing lever. To facilitate condensedbilling, paper-feed rollers may be released by the line-spacing lever after the latch is released. In the mechanism shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 5, a line-spacing lever 34 and an arm 35 carrying a pawl 37 are mounted on the platen axle 6 and are normally coupled by means of a latch 41 which is pivoted on the line-spacing lever and has a recess engaging a pin 45 on the arm. The pawl co-operates with a ratchet-wheel 38 on the platen axle. A pin 49 in the path of the latch releases the latch during the line-spacing movement. Line-spacing is regulated by a pawl-shield 51, Fig. 5, which is adjustably mounted on pins 54 on a bracket 28 and has teeth co-operating with a catch 56. Sheet-feeding arrangements.- Feed-rollers 7, 19, Figs. 1 and 2, are carried by rocking arms engaging flats on a shaft 14 which is provided with a sector 27 gearing with a sector 26 on a releasing-lever 24. The sector 27 is connected by a bar 62 to a sector 63 gearing with a sector 65 which is provided with a projection 67 arranged in the path of shoulders 60, 61 on the line-spacing lever 34. A bill 7 and a record sheet E are placed on shelves 74, 73 and, after operation of the lever 24, are passed round the platen B, the record sheet being passed also under feed-rollers 68 carried by a bail 70. On operation of the line-spacing lever, the bill and the record sheet are line-spaced, and the feedrollers 7, 19 are subsequently released to permit of removal of the bill. After insertion of another bill, the line-spacing lever is returned to restore the feed-rollers 7, 19.
