336,852. Jarvis, P. G., and Jarvis, J. Nov. 28, 1929. Appliances for fixing fencing; wire devices.- A device for use with a strainer in stretching a length of wire fabric 12 to a post comprises a pair of jaws 1, 2 extending across the width of the fabric on opposite sides thereof. To the backs of the jaws are secured arms 4 having their front ends pivotally interconnected and their rear ends hooked to links 6 connected to rings 8 on a cross bar 9 to which the tension is applied. The jaws are caused positively to grip the fabric and are so held in position by means of a cross rod 16 working in eyes in arms 13 which are also secured to the jaws and are provided with inter. connected front ends. The cross rod carries a rotatable head 19 which bears against one of the arms 13 so that, on rotation of the head, the jaws are positively operated. Additional rings 21 are provided on the cross bar to accommodate narrower fabric.
