UNITED STATES VERALDO CALZETTI, OF PARMA, ITALY.
GYMNASTIC APPARATUS.
Application tiled April 9,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, Verranno Canzn'r'rr, a subject ot the King of ltaly, residingl at Parma, Province of Parma, italy, have invented certain new and useiul improvements in and Relatingl to a Gymnastic Apparatus, ot which the following is a speciiication.
The present invention relates to a gwnnastic apparatus particularly suitable for rowing training.
The invention comprises an embodiment oit parts and arrangement ot organs suitable tor the development ot the liinbs as would be by the ordinary rowing practice.
The invention will be described with ret erence to the annexed drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
ln the drawing:
Fig". l is a side elevational view ot the appara'tus.
Fig. Q is a partial plan view oic the same.
Fig. 3 is a partial front view.
rlhe lranie of the apparatus comprises the girders *l* and the transversals *2* *3*.
Guides *5* *5* are secured longitudinally to said trame and carry the seat *7* provided with rollers -*8*.
9 is a foot-board, 10 are the legs of apparatus.
On the side girders *l-- are mounted the standards *ll* and slots *1.4i* are provided in said girders to allow a suitable positioningl of said standards and securing the same by means of bolts *19.* and nuts *l3*.
Said standards are provided with ear-supports *15-- the outer edge of which have ratchet-teeth *l6*.
Supporting iron frames *19* are pivotally connected to said ears *15* through ears *18* and bolts *l7*.
The outer sides *20* oi said trames are provided with column-supports *2l* to which standards *23* are pivoted by their end-sides.
Each of said standards *2S* is provided with apertures at the middle point to receive a holt *24;* forming' a pivot connection i'or one end of a lever *26*.
the
1924. Serial No. 705,399.
The levers *2G* are indicated in dotted lines and are provided with tie-ring` *3l* having a hook *32* for the connection to one end ot a spring- *33* the other end ot which is connected to the eyelet of bolt *l-il* secured to the transversal *2* and projecting` therefrom.
rllie rings *3l* are generally secured to the levers *26* but their position may be varied according` to necessity.
The running stroke of the seat *7* may be limited by a transversal rod *35* engagging the teeth ot' racks *36* secured to the guides *5*.
The apparatus is operated as follows:
The operator stands or sits on the seat *il* and according to `his position and height, the 'iframes *19* are adjusted in position by swinging thein around the pivots *li'*. Pawls 27* pivoted to said :trames and engaging by a terminal hook? the ratchet-teeth *1G* on ea rs *l5*, hold the frames in position.
Said pawls' are secured to a common rod *28* with a handle *30* while springs *29* are tensioning; said rod to keep the pawls in contact with the racks.
llavingt now particularly described the nature of my invention and the manner in which the same should he performed I claim:
A gymnastic apparatus comprising` in combination a traine with longitudinal and transverse girders, longitudinal ,guides for a rolling` seat7 pivotally adjustable frames on the longitudinal girders ot said frame.y standards pivotally mounted on the outer sides of said frames, levers pivotally connected to said standards orthogonally to the rotation-axis ot said standards. spring connections between a point ot said levers and a point ot the main-frame.
ln testimony whereof l aixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
VERALDU CLZETT.
vWitnesses W. Onnsrn l. Chimie, A. Fucine.
