Abstract

336,464. Lingwood, F. D. Nov. 8, 1929. Cutters. - Pliers for cutting sheet metal comprise an arm A of channel section cut away at an angle to provide a slotted jaw or support A<1> for the metal sheet D and a lever B mounted on a pivot C below the slotted support A<1> and having a cutter portion B<1> working therein and co-operating with the edges and end A<2> of the slot. The depth of cut is limited by the lever face B<2>. For forming tongues E, Fig. 4, on the edge of a sheet a tool having the cutter portion B<1> formed with a rounded notch is employed to cut out the shaded portions E<1>, after which the material F between the tongues E is removed by a tool with a square cutter jaw.
