Resistance furnaces.-In a furnace for firing enamelled goods the charge is conveyed through a regenerative chamber, 11 in parallel paths to and from a hair-pin shaped heating chamber 10 the walls of which are substantially covered by heating resistances 27. The heating chamber is formed by parallel side walls 14, 15 joined by a semicircular end wall 17, and a central dividing wall 25. Heating resistances 26, 28 cover the central wall and the floor. The regenerative chamber is inclined downwardly from the heating chamber. The articles 36 to be fired are supported by pins 35 on carriers 33 pivotally suspended by rods 34 from hangers 31 interconnected by a chain 32 and engaging a track 30. The track 30 and the continuous aperture in the furnace roof for the rods 34 are enclosed by covers 37.
