334,552. Pyrene Co., Ltd., and Hunter, J. N. June 5, 1929. Storing under pressure. - A fire-extinguisher 1 charged with a liquid under permanent pressure, in which, alter filling, the outlet of the extinguisher is closed by a temporary seal while a permanent seal is placed in position, is formed with an integral neck 2 in which is secured an internally - threaded sleeve 3. A strengthening sleeve 11 sweated over the neck 2 is screw-threaded for the reception of a cappiece 17. When the extinguisher has been charged, for example with methyl bromide, pentachlorethane, and carbon-dioxide under pressure, a plug 6 is screwed into the sleeve 3 up to packing 9. The plug is sealed at its upper end by a sweatedin cap 10, and is formed at its lower end with perforations 7. The extinguisher is then permanently sealed by a disc 12 soldered over the neck 2. The cap-piece 17 is then screwed on up to a packing ring 13. It carries a nozzle 22 and a piercer 15 for both seals, and is secured to a handle 19 rigidly secured at its lower end to a ring 21 encircling the extinguisher. In a modification, adapted for upright use, the plug 6 is replaced by a conical plug carrying a dip tube.
