Abstract

Driving-arrangements. -A power unit for driving machines comprises a motor 6, a driving clutch-member 9, 10, and a driven member, including a flywheel 12 and belt-pulley 14, revolubly mounted on an axially-movable non-rotary shaft 11, which is supported by a bushing 20 on the motor base 3 and is shiftable against a spring 30 by the vertical arm 27 of a lever 25. The base 3 is bolted to a curved bracket 1, 2 attached beneath the machine table and has a vertical flange 4 to which a bar 21, carrying the bushing 20, is secured by a slotted connection allowing adjustment to suit the size of motor. The lever 25, which is pivoted at 24 on the bar 21, has a cranked part 31 passing through a slot in the base 3 and carrying an adjustable brake-pad 32, and its forked end 28 engages slots in the shaft 11 to prevent rotation thereof. The hub 13 of the driven element 12, 14 runs on ball bearings 15, axial movement being prevented by a collar 17 on the shaft, a plate 18 on the flywheel, and screwed rings 19 in the hub.
