Abstract
334,145. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Dec. 3, 1928, [Convention date]. Paints; varnishes.-Coloured polymerized vinyl ester varnishes are made by adding a high molecular mono or polyamino-anthraquinone or a substitution product or derivative thereof which is substantially insoluble in water, to a solution of a polymerized vinyl ester varnish. The dyestuffs may be soluble or insoluble, in the varnish solvents. Other materials such as aluminium, copper or other metal powders, metal oxides, softening or hardening agents, solvents or fillers such as asbestos powder, asphalt, graphite &c. may be included in the varnishes. In a typical example. 1 : 4-diamino-2 : 3-diphenoxy-anthraquinone is mixed with a solution of vinyl acetate in a mixture of benzene, ethyl and butyl alcohols, methylglycol, acetone and butyl acetate to produce a red varnish. Other examples specify the use of 1 : 4-dipara-toluido-anthraquinone (green), 1-methylamino-4-para - toluido - anthraquinone (greenish-blue), and 1: 4-dipara - toluido - 8 - hydroxy-anthraquinone (olive green).
