Abstract
333,416. Universelle Cigaretten-Maschinen-Fabrik J. C. M³ller & Co., and M³ller, C. W. Sept. 4, 1929. Endless-band conveyers, fibrous material carried on; agitating, stirring, and scraping appliances.-Tobacco is dried by spreading it over a uniformly heated conveying band between two loosening operations. The tobacco from the cutting machine 1 is loosened and shaken in a pneumatic sinuous conveying tube 4. Dust is removed in a separator 5 and drawn up by a fan 7. A revolving feeder 8 drops the tobacco on to a continuously travelling steel band 10 heated by gas burners 13, and a second loosening shaking and cooling operation is applied at the discharge end in a pneumatic tube 21 before delivering the tobacco into the receptacle 22. Rotary rakes 14 turn over the tobacco while maintaining the uniformity of the layer, and a stripping roller 18 removes it from the band. Hot vapours from the tobacco are removed by suction through a covering hood 16.
