Abstract

333,412. Whittington, C. H. Aug. 28, 1929. Sprinklers, automatic. -In a sprinkler head of the kind in which the valve is held closed by a frangible vessel filled with expansible liquid which, on bursting, releases the valve. the valve is hollow, and the frangible vessel is completely heat-insulated from all other parts of the head. As shown, the hollow glass valve e closes an aperture in the diaphragm d and has an internal shoulder supporting an asbestos washer f, a metal ring h, and a second asbestos washer on which the lower end of the frangible vessel g rests. The upper end of the vessel is supported by an insulating washer k fitting in a metal cap l. The adjusting screw o is locked by a locking pin p. The screw o and cap l may be made of non-corrodible metal. Specification 17199/02 is referred to.
