Abstract
333,315. Devillers, J. May 18, 1929. Scoring and marking apparatus. -Players' gains and losses are registered by pointers on helical scales on drums driven by a common shaft through reduction gearing and clutch devices; two drums for registering the scores of each side and means for registering scores for different suits also being provided. In apparatus for four players, the total scores are registered by pointers 14<a> - - 14<a> integral with nuts 13 on screws 10 driven by the drum 3 through gears 11, 12 through the pitch of the helical scale, Fig. 5, for one revolution of a drum, the scales being visible through slots in the casing. The control drum 14<a> is driven by a handle 2 in one direction, whereas the other drums may, by means of bevel pinions 6, 7, 8, operated by clutches 9<b>, 9<b>, 9<d>, record gains or losses by being rotated with or oppositely to the control drum. The scores for each side are registered on similar drums n, e by pointers 29n, 29<e> through gear, by operating a lever 25 driving a ratchet wheel, an extent corresponding to different suits as limited by adjustable abutments 34 - - 37. Plates operated by levers may be made to appear in apertures in the casing to indicate individual games scored. Zeroizing of all pointers is effected by rotating the wheels 41 mounted on the drum shafts externally of the casing.
