Abstract

333,216. Ball, C. May 6, 1929. Vermin-destroying compositions. - Poison for rats and like vermin consists of a paste containing finely divided zinc phosphide dispersed throughout an oily or fatty vehicle. Limited amounts of solid baits may also be added. According to examples the poison may consist of 2 parts of zinc phosphide stirred into 98 parts of benzoated lard or into 98 parts of tallow heated to a semi-fluid condition. Solids materials, which may be added to form about 10 per cent of the mixture, are baked maize meal, dried fish, fish meal, middlings or crushed maize. Other fatty or oily vehicles are cotton seed oil, olive oil, and mineral oil. The Provisional Specification refers also to the use of vehicles containing baked or uncooked crushed wheat or oats, biscuit meal, raw fish, rice, barley, maize and maize grits.
