Abstract

Mine props.-A telescopic prop comprises a tube or section-bar and a head, with interfitting elements on each which are caused to engage on rotation of the main member and so decrease the effective length of the prop. The tube A has a sleeve H secured to its upper end and the tube and sleeve are provided with slots G adapted to receive a bar F secured to the underside of the head C when the tube is rotated, the bar normally lying across the slot. The head is provided with a skirt D and a stop-plate E secured by bolts J. In a modification, Fig, 3, the lower engaging element comprises a strip Q with turned-down ends to fit over the flanges of a section-bar R to which it is secured, and the top engaging element is formed of a metal bar with its ends turned under and overlapped, the elements being rotatably secured together by a bolt P.
