Abstract

292,036. Wilson, J. Dec. 28, 1927. Mine props. - A collapsable prop comprises a tubular member 1 within which a slidable member 2 is supported by an adjusting element disposed within the tubular member. The adjusting element comprises dogclutch-like members 5, 6, the upper one of which is rotatable on the lower one by means of a lever 7, a right-angled slot being provided in the sleeve 1, as shown in Fig. 3, to allow relative rotation and collapse of the clutch elements. The engaging surfaces of the dogs may be inclined so that the pressure may be gradually reduced or relieved without actual collapse of the prop.
