Driving; turntables; sound-reproducing apparatus associated with kinematographs. - Means for running a gramophone in synchronism with a kinematograph or for driving the gramophone from an external device, such as an electric motor, consists of a horizontal record-carrying disc c provided with gearing g, h mounted below the disc and operatively connected with a shaft j which is linked with the kinematograph or other external device, such means being adapted to be mounted upon a gramophone turntable a. The gears g, h may be disposed between two discs c, d, the lower disc d being mounted on the turntable and adapted to engage the spindle b. If desired, the two discs may be rigidly connected by a solid member e on which the gear wheel g is mounted. The gear wheel h is attached to the shaft j which rotates within a tube k connected with a box m enclosing the gear wheels g, h. The member e has a projection constituting the record-engaging spindle. In this construction, the external device referred to above may be an electric motor connected with the shaft j so as to assist the power of the gramophone machine. In an alternative construction, the upper disc c, member e, and gear wheel g, are integrally connected and rotate independently of the lower disc d and turntable, which latter parts may then remain stationary while the other parts and record on the disc c are rotated from an external source of power. The upper surface of the disc c and the lower surface of the disc d may be covered with felt &c. The Provisional Specification describes the lower disc as constituted by the supplementary turntable described in Specification 331,242.
