Abstract

331,141. Phillips, F. C. Sept. 12, 1929. Single-acting b u c k e t pumps; pipes; valves, arrangement of.-A pump for delivering oil &c. from a container 1 comprises a barrel 3 provided with an inlet valve 11 and a piston 12, the rod 14 of which is hollow and forms the delivery pipe. During the downstroke, under the action of the spring 17, the liquid passes through the piston and piston rod to a nozzle 24, the flow being controlled bv a lift valve 29, opened by pressing on a head 37. The seat 8 of the valve 11 is conical so that bv tilting the apparatus the valve opens and allows liquid in the barrel 3 to return to the container. A strainer 10 is arranged in the inlet 6, another 20 in the piston rod, and a third 25 in the nozzle.
