331,109. Woodall-Duckham (1920), Ltd., and Duckham, Sir A. M. July 8, 1929. Tunnel kilns; walls.-In a tunnel kiln having a travelling platform or trucks A, there is provided, at each side of the tunnel, a roller B adapted to smooth out or replace by pressure any parts of the platform or trucks which, owing to expansion or other cause, project laterally beyond the normal width thereof. The rollers may be spaced apart a distance equal to the normal width of the platform or trucks, or they may be maintained in contact with the edges thereof by springs. As shown, the rollers are mounted on vertical spindles C fixed in bars D which are attached to the top and bottom plates of a casing E, the latter being adjustably secured to the tunnel structure by bolts F housed in slots G. A plurality of pairs of rollers may be provided. in which case the rollers of each pair are arranged slightly closer together than those, of the preceding pair so that the removal of irregularities on the edges of the platform or trucks is effected in stages.
