Abstract

386,789. Moulding concrete &c. pipe segments. McALPINE, SIR M., 50, Pall Mall, London. Jan. 11, 1932, No. 822. [Class 87 (ii).] A mould for concrete &c. pipe segments for the walls of tunnels &c. comprises a curved bed mounted on a landing at each side, a detachable longitudinal member on each landing with a tongued or grooved face, a series of detachable transverse members, with tongued or grooved faces, fitting on the curved bed, means for holding the longitudinal members against the ends of the transverse members and means for spacing the transverse members a predetermined distance apart. A number of curved transverse ribs b are supported on longitudinal members a and have a series of slats c covered by a metal sheet d fixed thereto to form the bed. Detachable elements e having grooved metal faces l are pressed against the ends of the transverse members f by means of wedges k. The members f are spaced apart by blocks and are attached to the bed by bolts i passing through blocks t and held by cotters o. In order to release the members f the bolts i may be turned so that the heads m pass through slots in the plates p into the recesses r thus allowing the members f to slide sideways. The bolts i may be of slightly oval section to clear the holes in the blocks t of concrete when turned.
