Abstract
330,659. Gmach, L. T. March 19, 1029. Embossing; dic-rolling.-In embossing large sheets, pressure is applied through a resilient counter so that portions of the sheet covering different sections of a die are pressed at successive operations of a press or rollers. A bed B, Fig. 1, supports a die D and workpiece W. A flexible counter strip C is placed on the work piece and after each reciprocation of a press head A the strip is moved until the whole sheet is embossed. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the press head carries the counter and the die and workpiece are movable. In further modifications embossing rollers are used. A die-roll DR, Fig. 3, co-operates with a roll R to emboss a sheet W. A resilient counter strip C is of less width than the roll DR and is moved laterally after each section of the sheet is embossed. In Fig. 4 (not shown), one of the rollers carries a laterally movable narrow counter.
