Abstract

329,667. Ruben, R., and Belmonte, D. Jan. 12, 1929, [Convention date]. Lids and covers. - A lid 1 for a pressure vessel 2 is provided with an externally screwed tube 3 the upper end of which is formed as a seating for a valve 4 having a stem 5 guided in a hood 6 screwed on to the upper end of the tube 3. The hood carries a warning whistle 7 and is extended by a rod 8 having a non-conducting knob 9 for removal of the cover. A cup-shaped member 12 having holes to permit the passage of the whistle and the rod 8, rests on the valve stem 5 and the rim is flanged outwardly at 14 to receive sleeve-like weights 13, Fig. 4, which are slotted at 15 to pass the rod 8. The lid 1 is clamped in position by a bar 10 which is screwed down by a nut 11. On loosening the nut 11 to remove the lid, the member 12 is lifted and the pressure is vented. A fusible safety plug is arranged under the yoke 10.
