Abstract

329,270. Ermold, E. Feb. 5, 1929. Clutches, positive.-An overload-release clutch comprises a lever 13, pivoted at 14 on a driving- member 12 and carrying on a pin 15, which traverses a slot 16, a roller 17 normally in engagement with one of a series of notches 11 in the flange 10 of a driven member. Both the driving and driven members are loose on a fixed spindle 5. The lever 13 is guided by a pin-and-slot arrangement 19, 18 and is held in engagement by an adjustable tension spring 20. When, on overload, the roller 17 is forced out of its notch, a two-armed catch 27, 28 is turned by a spring 30 to wipe over an inclined face 25 on the lever 13 until arrested by a peg 32 with its end 27 on a flat of the lever, where it holds the roller clear of the notches 11. The catch is released by manipulating its arm 28.
