328,963. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.), Jan. 31, 1929. Addition to 300,044. Phosphoric acid esters.-One molecular proportion of phosphorus oxychloride is caused to react with from one to two molecular proportions of a primary aliphatic alcohol, or phenol, in the manner described in the parent Specification, and the acid-ester obtained is caused to react with an aliphatic alcohol different from that initially employed, or with a phenol when an aliphatic alcohol was used in the first stage, so as to produce a neutral mixed ester. In an example, two molecular proportions of iso-amyl alcohol are mixed while cooling with one molecular proportion of phosphorus oxychloride during the course of an hour. The reaction mixture is then heated under a reduced pressure for about 30 minutes. The whole is cooled, an excess of butyl alcohol is added, and the reaction continued for 30 minutes at 40‹ C. n-Butyl di-isoamyl phosphate is obtained. The preparation of the following esters is also described :-Di-ethyl isoamyl phosphate, di-butyl phenyl phosphate. Specifications 181,835 and 330,228 are referred to.
