Abstract
328,432. Brooks, C. G. April 22, 1929. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Production of metal.-A borosilicate glass which is resistant to chemical and thermal changes is made by melting a batch containing less than 70 per cent of silica, more than 6 per cent of alumina, and a moderate amount of boric oxide, together with at least three oxides of bivalent metals and at least three oxides of monovalent metals. A suitable batch comprises 65 per cent of silica, 10 per cent of alumina, 10 per cent of boric oxide, 3 per cent of sodium oxide, 4 per cent of potassium monoxide, 2 per cent of lithium oxide, 1 per cent of manganese oxide, 2 per cent of zinc oxide, 1 per cent of barium monoxide, and 2 per cent of calcium oxide.
