Abstract

327,872. Petitalot, L. G. April 25, 1929. Atmospheric gas burners; burners, applications of.- A burner for singeing yarn comprises a block of fireproof material provided with two perforated burner tubes 8, 9 communicating through diametrically-opposed slots 5, 6 with a cylindrical chamber 4 so that the flames meet on the axis of the chamber along which the yarn travels. A slot 7 at right-angles to the slots 5, 6 is provided for inserting the yarn and for inspection purposes. The block may be made in sections 1, 2, 3. The tubes 8, 9 are supplied from a common valve-controlled main 12 and may be provided with rotary or sliding shutters for closing some of the perforations. In a modification, one or more additional burner tubes are arranged to direct their flames through the axis of the chamber 4. In a further modification, the block is provided with a plurality of chambers 4, some of the burner tubes being common to two adjacent chambers.
