Abstract

326,821. Imber, J. Dec. 19, 1928. Wick burners, blue flame. - To increase the height of the blue flame normally obtainable from a wick burner an annular chamber i is formed wholly above the burner cone f, open on its inner side to the base of the flame. In the annular wick burner shown, the chamber j i is formed by the inwardly directed annular lips i, h of the cone f and of an auxiliary cone g detachably mounted on it. The chamber j extends above and below the plane in which air is discharged from the head of the flame spreader l, and is normally imperforate; for use, however, with a long flue it may be ventilated by perforations in the sides, the openings of which may be controlled by a rotatable perforated ring. The normal burner cone f is imperforate. To permit inspection of the top of the wick and the base of the flame the side of the chamber j may be provided with a mica-covered openings, or the whole of the upper cone may be of transparent vitreous material.
