Abstract

326,480. Ritholz, B. D. Dec. 12, 1928. Sight-testing apparatus.-Measuring-devices for use in fitting spectacles are constructed for use by unskilled persons and for ease of despatch by post. In one form two eye-members 8 are made of strip material and pivoted together, being recessed at the points 9 to receive the nose. One strip has parallel slits 11 cut in it to receive a segment arm 12 on the other strip provided with graduations. In use, the device is observed in a mirror and adjusted until the arrows 15 point to the pupils of the eyes, when the interpupillary distance can be read off on the graduations 13. The length of the temple-pieces is determined by adjustable side strips 18 having graduations 21. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, a single strip is used having a series of graduations 26, of which the appropriate one may be similarly determined with the aid of a mirror.
