Abstract

Gas cooking-stoves. - The burner 8 of a gas cooking-stove is provided with a removable slotted top cover 17 which is employed when cooking, but may be removed to allow a vertical cone-shaped heating flame to be provided by a lower slotted member. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the lower slotted member 20 is in the form of a hood surrounding an internal tubular part 18 of the burner. In a modification, shown in Fig. 6, the slits in the top cover 17 extend to the top surface of the cover, and the lower member consists of a slotted disc 19 resting on a tube 24. Fig. 6 shows a further modification in which, upon removal of the slotted top cover 17, a vertical flame is produced by the mixture issuing through slots 22 in two superposed discs 19, 25, the lower of which has a depending core-piece for directing the mixture to the slots. The burner 8 shown in Fig. 1 is mounted in a central aperture in a bearer 3 by means of a bayonet joint comprising projections 8<b> on the burner which pass through slots 13 after the burner has been turned. The bearer 3 is pivotally supported at one end in a bracket 9, and at the other by means of a tubular member 2 which receives a ball end 4 on the bearer. By removing the pivot pin 10 the bearer may be withdrawn. The gas supply pipe 11 and tap 6 are detachably held by an extension 5 which enters the member 2, and by engagement with the bracket 9. In a modification the burner is held by a similar bayonet joint in an aperture plate supported by downward extensions of utensil-supporting ribs.
