Abstract
326,124. Junkers, H. Dec. 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 307,434. Sheet-metal slabs; compound slabs.-The structural members described in the parent Specification are modified to facilitate speedy erection. The ends of the bowed members 1, 2 are received in the inwardly-directed folds of double S-shaped connecting members 4. Z-spaced cross struts 5 are fitted in one of the complementary folds as illustrated, and shaped struts 10 are hooked into the struts 5. Finally, a metal strap 7 is hooked into the ends of the end member 4, and is tensioned by the screwed rod 6 to bind all the parts firmly. Where it is desired to prevent transmission of heat through the member, the members 5 are made, as shown in Fig. 2, with insulating centres 17 and sheet-metal ends to form the hooks 15, 16. In cases where the member is not symmetrical but has bowed members on one face only, the back edge of the strut 10 is supported against buckling by engaging lugs on the end struts 5 or by bearing against separate members which engage these lugs.
