Cooking-stoves; heat-distributors. - In a hotplate for gas cookers and the like, of the kind in which a slab 1 of refractory material is located a short distance below the hot-plate, a central aperture 2 is formed in the slab to receive the burner, and the upper surface of the slab slopes upwardly from the aperture towards the sides or ends, or both, of the hot-plate. In the form shown a circular burner is employed, and a concave depression 4 is formed in the slab around the aperture 2, from the edge of which the upper surface slab slopes upwardly to the ends and sides. A form employing a straight tubular burner is also described. the top of the slab sloping upwardly from each side of it. The hot plate may be provided with downwardly-extending studs or the like -to further the heat transmission.
