Abstract

325,611. Van Heijst & Zonen, J. B., and Heijst, F. W. van. Dec. 4. 1928. Dropping bombs from aircraft.-Relates to apparatus in which a bomb 1, Fig. 1, is held up against crutches 3 on an aircraft by a fork 5 screwed up by a hand-wheel 4 and provided with a band 6 encircling the bomb and locked by a releasing gear 7, a centring pin 8 being provided on the aircraft to fit into a hole in the bomb. According to the invention, the hole in the bomb is fitted with a spring plunger 10, Fig. 3, which completes the contour of the bomb when the centring pin leaves the hole when the bomb is dropped, so that irregularities of air resistance are avoided while the bomb falls.
