Abstract
325,220. Le Clair, L. J., Brackenbury, A. G., and Westinghouse Brake & Saxby Signal Co., Ltd. Nov. 20, 1928. Addition to 296,357. Fluid-pressure.-In the vacuum brake cylinder of the parent Specification communication between the upper and lower sides of the brake cylinder piston or diaphragm is effected through a passage enclosed between the wall of the cylinder 1 and a channel cover 32 welded to the outer surface of the cylinder or cylinder head. The cover 32 communicates with the interior of the cylinder by a port 33 and extends to the reinforcing ring 25 of the cylinder and communicates by a passage 34 in this ring with the flange 25<a> to which the release valve is bolted. The invention is shown applied to a cylinder of the diaphragm type and the channel cover is welded to the cylinder head and provided with a seating to which the non-return ball valve is attached. The upper end of the channel is welded to the reinforcing ring of the cylinder head through which it communicates with the cylinder abovethe diaphragm.
