Controllers, resistances disposition. of.-A motor m in which the load is constant, such as that driving a gramophone is supplied through an adjustable series resistance, one part g of which is tapped to suit different supply voltages and the other part g<1> is tapped to suit a supply of direct current or alternating current of different frequencies. The required taps are selected by screwed plugs d inserted through metal plates b, b<1> to abut against contacts f, f<1>, the plates being connected to the supply by plugs l. The contacts f may be provided with laminated spring contacting surfaces, or each plug d may contain a spring plunger as shown in Fig. 5.
