Abstract

324,838. Burch, J. B. March 4, 1929. Lids.-The rim of the lid of a hat box &c. is formed of two or more segments A, B, C two of which B, C have their free ends formed as downwardly projecting overlapping flaps B<7>, C<7> adapted to be fastened to the body of the box by fastenings G. The other segment A, preferably of stiffer material, is hinged to the box at E and extends approximately one half the circumference of the box. In a modification the hinge E is dispensed with, the segment A being rigidly secured to the box, so that the lid will then open half-way only, the flexibility of the lid top forming the hinge.
