324,669. Molins, W. E., Chalmers, J. W., and Molins Machine Co., Ltd. Oct. 31, 1928. Unpacking.-In a cigarette package closed at one end by two side tucks and two broad end flaps, a cord is arranged between the cigarettes and one side tuck so that the side tuck may be torn from the sealed package to expose the ends of the adjacent cigarettes. At the open end of a tin foil wrapping 1, one narrow side flap is slit at 2 to accommodate a cord 3 placed behind it; the side flaps are then folded down, and the broad end flaps folded thereon in the usual manner, the package being disposed in a paper envelope prior to the application of a transparent outer cover 8. The folding in of the side tucks 9, 10 of the outer cover bends the cord along the edges of one narrow panel so that, when the cord is torn away from the sealed package, the side tuck 9 of the cover is torn and the side tuck 2 of the inner foil wrapper is removed bodily.
