Spectacles.-A clamping device for spectacle sides comprises a sleeve e screwed on to the side wire b, which is made hollow to receive the adjustable portion a, the portion a being sur. rounded by a torsion member d, such as a spring, serving to clamp the portion a in position when the sleeve e is rotated. This effect results from the twisting of a part of the member d and also its compression whereby some of the coils are caused to ride up upon the adjacent coils. A conical cavity c is provided to assist in the clamping action.
