Anchoring.-In a land tractor fitted with a winch for haulage &c. purposes the winch a is mounted in a frame b carried by rings c attached to the centre portion d of the back axle casing, and an anchoring device k<1> is pivoted to the frame b which can be retained in the position shown or allowed to take a substantially vertical position with its lower end in the ground. The parallel side members k<1> are connected by cross-members k<2>, k<3>, the lower of which forms an abutment from which project a pair of plates k'. Stops m on the frame b abut against the members k' when they are vertical. The anchor is retained in the raised position by the engagement of a pawl q pivoted to the frame b with a stud r.
