Abstract

323,296. Lamplugh, H. A. Oct. 26, 1928. Seat adjustments.-A motor car or coach seat comprises a back carried by supports adjustably engaging guides or rails fixed to the seat so that the back is adjustable towards or away from the front edge of the seat without changing the angular relation between the back and seat, and the seat includes means for controlling the adjustment of the back, such means being located either forwardly of the front edge of the seat or outside the sides of the seat. Such a vehicle seat is shown in Fig. 1, the back 1 having supports 2, 3, carrying pins 4 which engage a series of holes in the flanges 9, 10 of the guides 5. Modifications are shown in Figs. 4, 6 and 7, that shown in Fig. 6 comprising a cam like member 20 which grips the edges of the slot 21 when pressure is exerted on the back. In the construction shown in Fig, 9, the back is moved by the operation of a threaded nut and hand wheel 30, 29 provided forwardly of the front edge of the seat. The guides are preferably shaped to conform to the contour of the seating surface.
