Abstract

Condensers comprise two sets of movable vanes constituting two condensers of unequal maximum capacity adapted to be used singly, in series, or in parallel, and means for securing and making electrical connection with a plug-in coil rigidly attached to one of the sets of vanes. The spindle 1 carrying two sets of vanes 2, 3 connected to the socket 10, is mounted in bearings in channel-section metal strips 6, which are supported at each end in recesses in horizontal insulating members 7, and are spaced by insulating rods 8. The two sets 4, 5 of fixed vanes are connected, respectively, to sockets 9, 11, and the coil to be tuned has three plugs for insertion in the sockets 9 - - 11, the coil ends being connected to any two plugs, depending on the capacity required. Instead of the uneven socket spacing shown, the sockets may be of different shapes or sizes. When the member 7 carries an additional component with connecting plugs, the latter may determine the positioning and sockets 9 - - 11 be equally spaced.
