Abstract

322,833. Linton, R. H., and Bray, M. E. J. G. de. Sept. 28, 1928. Revolving lamps. -For the successive illumination of various articles displayed in a shop window, a simple mechanism is provided for giving a single motion to the beam of light from a projector lamp, so that, during the motion, the beam remains at a constant inclination to a single axis, the remainder of the window, or portion of a window being left in the dark. The inclination of the beam may be adjusted before the motion begins, and in some cases the inclination may be zero. The motion may be intermittently arrested so as to cause the light to remain on any particular article for any short adjustable interval of time, and the light may be switched off during its passage from one article to another. The motion may be slow or fast, uniform or jerky, or a combination of any of these. The light may be steady, flashing, and it may automatically alternate between dim and bright, or between white and coloured. Electric and other sources of light may be employed, and the motion may be actuated by a falling weight adapted to run down and switch off the light when it reaches the end of its course at midnight or any other desired time. In the form shown a lamp 1 is fixed to a ceiling or other support and is provided with an inclined projector 2 adapted to rotate about a vertical axis.
