Abstract

322,741. Benthall, E. C., and Spencer, E. Sept. 10, 1928. Digesters. - A method of extracting cellulose from vegetable material consists in arranging within a digester circulating means so that liquor passes downward over the fibres which are prevented from compacting within the digester as by having conical or tubular perforated projections 6 from the lower perforated plate 4, whereby cavities are formed from which the liquor can more readilv be extracted. The projections are of such a height as not to project through the layer of material even when in its most compact condition. Specification 295,869 is referred to.
