Thermionic amplifiers.-In a system of lowfrequency amplification by modulation and detection, an auxiliary detector is associated with the generator of high-frequency current the output. from which is differentially added to the output of the amplifier to neutralize generator noise. The Figure shows a generator 1 and detector 9,. modulation being produced by an electrostatic microphone 7 in parallel with the tuned circuit 6, 8. An auxiliary detector 11 is associated with the generator 1 and its output is employed to neutralize the disturbances from the generator 1 transmitted by the detector 9.
