Abstract

321,660. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Heisler, C. L.). Aug. 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Divided on 295,378, [Class 40 (ii), Phonographs &c.]. Kinematograph apparatus. - Rollers between which the film passes are automatically separated by the opening movement of the door of the casing of the apparatus, to facilitate threading. Preferably the separation only occurs when the door is opened beyond a predetermined position. The invention is shown as applied to the soundrecording apparatus described in Specification 295,378, [Class 40 (ii), Phonographs &c.]. The film 4 is pressed against a sprocket 6 by a roller 60, and against a drum 21 by rollers 55, 56, the sprocket and drum co-operating to feed the film past a slit in a member 65 which is pivoted at 66. Two levers 52, 53 are mounted on a common pivot, one lever, 53, pivotally supporting a plate 54 on which the rollers 55, 56 are mounted, while the lever 52 has an arm 59 on which the roller 60 is pivoted. The rollers are held down by spring action on the levers 52, 53. The lever 52, is also connected to the plate 65 by a link 64. When the door 2 of the casing, Fig. 3, is opened widely, a bar 49 thereon engages a lever 48, which thrusts a wedge-piece 50 between the outer ends of the levers 52, 53. The movement of the levers thus caused shifts the rollers 55, 56, 60 away from the drum and sprocket respectively, and moves the member 65 away from the drum.
