Abstract

321,376. Dunford & Elliott (Sheffield), Ltd., and Skõrlund, C. A. Feb. 14, 1929. Detachable installations. - In an outboard motor installation, the transmission casing is pivotally mounted so that it can swing in a vertical plane and it has means which produce this pivotal movement when the axis of the propeller is moved in the horizontal plane, this arrangement being intended to provide a balance for the sidethrust of the propeller. The depending casing c is pivotally mounted at f on a horizontal axis and has a bracket k with a projecting arm or arms intended to contact with lugs m on a bottom bracket i adjustably fixed in the curved guide j. When rotating the shaft c for steering, the tube will take up a position, Fig. 6, due to contact of one projection k with one of the lugs m producing an outward motion of the tube c by pivoting on the axis f. If necessary the lug k may carry an adjustable stud.
