Abstract
321,317. Ascot Motor & Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Pullin, C. G. Oct. 26, 1928. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Supports attached to cycles.-A motor-cycle &c. stand adapted in one position to serve as a prop only, and adapted also to be extended to lift one or both wheels completely from the ground, comprises a pair of legs 2 pivoted near the longitudinal centre of gravity of the machine by means of an upper horizontal tube so as to swing in a fore-and-aft direction, the legs 2 having spring- urged telescopic members 10 adapted to be locked by a catch, either in the closed position when the stand is required to act as a prop only, or in the extended position shown when the stand is required to lift one or both wheels completely from the ground. Each telescopic member 10 is extended by means of a compression spring 18 when released by the disengagement of a spring- pressed plunger 21 from a groove 22 in the upper part 9 of the member 10, the plunger then engaging the upper end of the part 9, or a second groove therein, to maintain the member in the extended position. A shoulder 19 engages a plug 11 to limit the extension. The plunger 21 slides in a tubular housing 20 on the leg 2, and is provided with a knurled thimble 27 to provide a hand grip. The thimble 27 also serves as a means for swinging the stand as a whole about its pivot by hand or foot.
