Abstract
321,195. Pearson, T. F. May 4, 1928. Delivering molten metal.-A feeder of the reciprocating- plunger type has the outlet orifice 1 surrounded by a cylindrical sleeve or baffle 2 which extends upwards beyond the level of the glass but is open to the hot gases, and an opening 5, controlled by a gate 6, is formed in the side of the sleeve remote from the body of the furnace. The amount of glass flowing through the orifice 1 is regulated by the gate 6 which can either be raised to any desired position or it can be reciprocated in unision with the plunger 3.
